Spilled Ink

The only poetry that should have a tag of spilled ink are the poems in your journal. I’m tired of seeing featured poetry have a tag of spilled ink. We don’t want to see your first drafts unless you are open to constructive criticism and open to changing your poem. You are worth more than spilled ink, I as a reader am worth more than spilled ink, and your poetry and the future of your writing is worth more than spilled ink.

Moon and Sun

Being with her was simple

like walking through the phases of the moon to her door and knocking until the birds sang

only then would she rise past the window across the ceiling and greet me on the other side

we shared her light for thirteen hours until she slipped beneath the covers of a darker sky

and I watched her sleep

knowing halfway around the world her dreams were a reality  

It’s called spilled ink because you spilled the ink, meaning you need to clean up the mess you just made
